Following the heady fragrance in the warm morning air, I found frangipani, in the gardens of the Goha Hotel, Gondar.

Frangipani or lei flower, Plumeria alba, in the gardens of the Bekele Mola Hotel on Lake Langano.

Royal Poinciana with what I think may be Acacia raddiana in the background, on the beach of the Bekele Mola Hotel, Lake Langano.


Delonix regia, Royal Poinciana. Native to Madagascar, this lovely spreading, fast growing tree grows to 40 feet. It is deciduous and blooms in late spring and through summer.
